Money trader turned beauty queen

Foreign exchange broker Shenise Wong beat 15 other girls to win the Miss Singapore Universe crown at the Marriott Hotel last night.

Malvina Kang, a 21-year old recent graduate emerged as first runner up, while 26-year-old teacher Gayatri Shunmugam was third place.

The five-hour event featured the sixteen finalists who paraded in their evening gown and swimsuits in front of an audience of about 330 people.

The 26-year old beauty, who stands at 1.73m tall, will represent Singapore in the Miss Universe Pageant that will be held in Vietnam in July. She won $5,000 cash, a trophy and products and services from the sponsors.

This year's pageant was not televised due to declining ratings and a drop in sponsorship.
