Move over EZ-Link, the new smartcard, stickkey, has arrived.
According to The Straits Times, this pint-sized card - about the size of a stamp - is slated for a trial run early next year, and if succesful, could be available in MRT stations soon enough.
The stickkey, while small, could serve multi purposes for the user - to pay bus fares, buy groceries, unlock doors and can also be attached to cellphones, making it a much handier tool. However, The Straits Times highlighted that while EZ-Link cards expire in 5 years, the stickkey lasts up to 11 1/2 years.
The home-grown company behind the innovation, Fast Innovations Asia, told The Straits Times it is working with the Land Transport Authority, SMRT, SBS Transit and EZ-Link on the pilot project. But the public transport operators, though, said they were only in talks with the start-up.
This creation was employed at the recent Singapore Fashion Festival in March, functioning as access cards for VIPs.
