The Straits Times

Senoko Power, acquired this month by a Marubeni Corp-led group, awarded a S$750 million contract to convert its Singapore oil-fired power plant to one that burns natural gas, Bloomberg news reported on Tuesday.

The Lion Power Consortium, including GDF Suez SA, Kansai Electric Power and Kyushu Electric Power, awarded the contract to Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the group said part of the contract was awarded to Hitachi Asia.

Bloomberg said Senoko Power will be the first of Singapore's three electricity producers to use liquefied natural gas unloaded at the island-state's planned 3 million metric-ton-a-year terminal.
