$16k fine for misusing maids

A FORMER tai tai who was convicted of asking her maids to clean her office was fined a total of $16,000 on Wednesday.

Avatar Ng Ngah Len, 54, a businesswoman, was found guilty of four charges of getting her foreign domestic workers to clean Quakes Agency at Textile Centre between November 2006 and June 2007, and from end-July to Oct 19, 2007 when the insurance agency moved to Tanjong Pagar Road.

She was found to have breached a condition of their work permits.
