KUALA LUMPUR - A soldier was brutally murdered by two of his comrades at the Sungai Besi military academy.

The 27-year-old victim, who was attached to an army camp in Penang, was attending a course at the academy when his body was discovered near a ditch around 6.30pm on Monday.

Cheras deputy OCPD Supt Abd Rahim Hamzah Othman said the victim had fractures in his skull and ribs, believed to be sustained during a fight following a misunderstanding between him and his assailants.

"The two men, aged 32 and 35, have been arrested to assist in investigations," he said.

On an unrelated incident, Supt Abd Rahim said a Myanmar national was found dead after he was stabbed in the neck in a wooden house off Jalan Peel around 6.30pm yesterday.

The deceased, known as Thang Kee, in his 30s, was believed to have stayed at the house for the past five days with a friend.

"Around 6pm, we received calls from neighbours who heard loud noises from the house," he said, adding that they saw a man clad only in a sarong with an eagle tattoo on his back leave the house.

Supt Abd Rahim said both men had been drinking heavily and could have had an argument which led to the murder.

"We are currently trying to locate the suspect," he said.
