TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Two deaths occurred on the tracks of Taipei Railway from alleged suicide attempts in one day.

Japanese tourist Andou Kunimitsu, 36, was hit by the train on Taipei Railway tracks at Taoyuan's Neili Station at 6:57 a.m.

An unidentified woman around 50-years-of-age also died of the same cause at Changhua's Shetou Station later in the morning at 9:30 a.m.

Both cases are still under investigation.

Kunimitsu died on the scene after he jumped in front of the south-bound 101 Fu Hsing Express train.

He came to Taiwan using a tourism visa and stayed at a hotel in Kaoshiung before his death. 10 south- and north-bound trains were affected past 9 a.m. due to the incident.

The other incident happened on the level crossing of Zhongxing Road in Changhua County.

The woman in jeans threw herself in front of the 1006 Tze Chiang Train.

The train could not stop in time and only managed to stop 100 meters after running over her body.

Her entire lower body was stuck under the front of the train and her upper body was still on her landing spot.

Clean-up efforts lasted until 9:50 a.m., causing severe disruptions to train schedule. Her identity is unknown as she wasn't carrying any form of identification.

Both cases remain a mystery as police continue their investigations.
