GEORGE TOWN: The Penang High court sentenced a furniture shop assistant to hang for the murder of his prostitute lover at a budget hotel on the island three years ago.

Hoo Eu Hee, 44, was found to be guilty of murdering Wong Nyik Yon, 46.

Wong was stabbed eight times on her chest and abdomen with a knife in a room of the Hock Aun Hotel in Jalan Datuk Keramat at 3.30am on Nov 29, 2007.

The two workers had told the court in an earlier hearing that Wong was the hostel?s resident prostitute and had operated there for more than a year.
