MORE spas and beauty salons have stepped up to bail out defunct beauty salon Wax in the City, by absorbing the balance of its customers' packages.

The number of companies offering to provide the services owed to these customers has grown from 13 last week to 21 as of yesterday, said Atos Wellness Group, the spa leading the bailout.

The increase in the number of participating companies follows a meeting of spas and salons that it organised last week.

The participating companies have more than 60 outlets islandwide, and they offer a variety of services, from massage to manicure.

They have offered to absorb at least 3,880 packages.

When Wax in the City closed its third and final outlet two weeks ago, it left about 3,500 to 4,000 customers, who had paid for packages that cost up to a few thousand dollars, high and dry.

The list of participating companies and their terms of redemption will be available on a website (www.sbwa.com.sg) from 10am today.
