Runaway lamb caught after chase in Aljunied

A LAMB escaped on Tuesday morning, leading its handlers and passing police officers on a search in Aljunied until it was finally caught about half an hour later.

The lamb, which was being led out of a lorry into Sallim Mattar Mosque in Mattar Road at the time, had broken free of the flock and hid under the vehicle, said mosque manager Zulkifli Sar Mami, 52. It then made a run for it.

During its brief period of freedom, the lamb ran along Aljunied Road, right after the Kallang Way turning. It was finally caught by handlers from the mosque who had given chase.

The lamb was eventually slaughtered yesterday in observance of korban, the Muslim ritual of sacrificing livestock on Hari Raya Haji.

On Sunday, a runaway goat roamed free for about two hours.

It fled from handlers from the Burhani Mosque in Hill Street and led police on a chase down Temasek Boulevard.

It was later caught at the F1 Pit Building near the Singapore Flyer, after being hit by a taxi on Nicoll Highway.
