All this graduate wanted to do was to boost his income.

However, Chen Wen Tian, a former student from the National University of Singapore (NUS) was
sentenced to four months' jail yesterday for doing so.

His crime? He had turned to duplicating and selling Japanese, Chinese and English pornographic DVDs.

A report in Lianhe Zaobao stated that the 28-year-old would put put his DVDs up for sale by first placing an advertisement in a website with his details, requesting contact from interested parties.

After a line of communication had been established, a list of available titles would be sent
to the potential buyer.

When the buyers had made their selection, payment would then be made in the form of a money
transfer to Chen's personal bank account.

Chen would deliver the DVDs the moment the money was received.

In total, he earned about $13,000 from DVD sales.

The police first arrested Chen in March last year following a tip-off. 1,127 pornographic
DVDs were found after a search was conducted in his home.

Last month, Chen pleaded guilty to four charges, including the posession of illegal DVDs and
the sale of DVDs without a legal permit.
