Republic Poly opens resource centre to train volunteers
Mon, Apr 28, 2008
The Straits Times

REPUBLIC Polytechnic hopes to train about 2,800 students and volunteers, with the launch of a new resource centre.

Called the Tan Ean Kiam Service-Learning Resource Centre, it provides discussion areas as well as galleries to showcase community projects.

It is supported by a $200,000 grant from a foundation named after the late merchant and co-founder of Overseas Chinese Bank Corporation, Tan Ean Kiam.

The Woodlands-based polytechnic is training not just its own students, but hopes to reach out to schools and volunteer welfare organisations in the area.

"This is great to keep overseas Singaporeans connected to home news and affairs"

"My favourite was "The Aftermath for Malaysia Election" - (in my opinion), this was a very well crafted world standard image, it is even suitable for a Time magazine cover!"
