Parents vs celebs: Who are kids' health role models?

What do famed songbird Stefanie Sun and soccer hunk Ronaldo have in common?

Their 'presence' may help overweight primary school kids to lose flab.

In a bid to encourage these students to keep fit, school authorities at Loyang Primary School are asking pupils to stick pictures of celebrities on the school's stairways.

However, before any star photos can be pasted, students would have to first explain to their teachers why they think that particular celebrity is a reflection of health.

Popular stars include Stefanie Sun, Jackie Chan and soccer star David Beckham.

Unusual 'celebrities' have also popped up - in the form of the students' parents.

According to a school head, some students feel that their parents make for health role models and have hence stuck their pictures in the sticker hallway.

This year, Loyang Primary was awarded the gold prize for the Joint HPB-MOE CHERISH Award.

The award recognises schools with comprehensive health promotion programmes for students, staff and the community.
