School with 28 pupils fear no new intake
>MALAYSIA - THE student population at SJK(C) Tua Ooh in Segamat has been declining over the past four years since the school relocated to its current site.

But what is more worrying is that no one may enrol next year.

Currently, the school has 28 pupils, 10 of whom are non-Chinese.

School Parent-Teacher Association chairman Wong San Chin said the declining number of pupils would be a stumbling block to the school's future development.

"The land for the school was donated by a plantation company.

"We moved here because there were big housing developments taking place nearby, which we thought will be our source of pu-pils.

"However, the projects did not progress smoothly.

"As such, our pupils in the last four years are from Kampung Kwongsai and Pogoh Esate, which is more than 5km away."

The school was established in 1936 and was located at the Segamat II Industrial Estate site.

The school was relocated to its existing site near the Tunku Abdul Rahman College (Segamat branch), 5km away, to make way for the industrial estate.

The new school has a double-storey building which comprises class-rooms, an administrative office and a science laboratory.
