Pressure's on kids and parents
Wed, Sep 24, 2008

I AGREE with Mr Damien Lee, the writer of the letter, "Do something about primary-school education" (my paper, Sept 23).

The Government should create a child-friendly environment where parents do not need to worry about sending their kids to school and having them return with poor academic results.

Pressure is placed on parents to make sure children keep up with their peers.

I have been sending my Primary 2 son for tuition as he is not coping well with school work.

Sometimes, I pity him for the tonnes of homework from school and tuition classes he needs to do.

But, can I afford to stop sending him for tuition? My younger son will be attending primary school in two years' time.

I would have loved to have four children, but even with the new benefits, my wife and I will stop at two.
