We've all heard why students can sometimes not appreciate school - the 'tyrannical' teachers, the neverending stream of extra classes and of course, the homework.

But do teachers feel the same way too?

One teacher apparently does.

In a blog posting featured by STOMP, the aforesaid teacher listed 13 things she hated about teaching.

On the top of her list: "I hate it when parents call me on my handphone at 10pm on a Saturday evening. To ask me why their daughter hasn't returned home yet. Err sorry I forgot to give her the electronic tracking device that she's supposed to put around her collar. *stabs own eye with rusty fork*"

Another thing she hated? "Being told that 'teaching is our core business', and in the same breath, given a platter of non-teaching projects, assignments and gobbledydook"

The teacher also hated strategic thrusts and KPIs.

She argued: "Strategic thrusts belong in an MNC boardroom, not an education institution."

However, the STOMPer who first highlighted the blog post to the citizen journalism site also noted that the teacher had another entry titled 'Things I love about teaching' that was made invisible as it was "terribly cliche and less fun".

Some netizens who read the teacher's candid confession whole-heartedly agreed with the teacher's views.

Said Evilchaosz: "Let's face it.

"Although this teacher has complained, but what this teacher said was true about students and parents.

"The public may not see it, but it's actually there in most schools in Singapore.

"We can't avoid facts, can we?"
