MUAR, MALAYSIA: Controversial composer Wee Meng Chee, whose version of the national anthem raised the ire of many, is again in hot water. This time, it is over his alleged ridiculing of the standard of English in Chinese schools.

His new five-minute video clip posted on YouTube, which includes a song titled "Your English is So Poor", has irritated board members of his former school, Chung Hwa High School, here.

The school board engaged law firm J.A. Nathan & Co to issue a notice demanding Wee (pictured right) remove the clip as well as several images from the popular video sharing website.

School board president Ng Choo Mean said Wee had uploaded three video clips titled "Teacher Hew's Time" Part One, Two and Three.

He said the video clips contained images that were taken in the school's compound, with Part 3 even containing images of a signboard bearing the school's name.

Ng said the contents of the video clips were filled with vulgarity, indecency and seditious elements which the school board did not agree, accept nor subscribe to.

He said the board dissociated itself entirely from the video clips and said it would bear no responsibility or liability for the contents.

Ng said by placing images and videos of the school, Wee had violated the school's rights and tarnished its good name and reputation, causing it to be the subject of embarrassment, ridicule and shame.

Ng said the notice issued to Wee called on him to immediately remove all images and clips containing, showing and reflecting the compound, property and name of the school and to take measures to prevent such images from being reproduced or circulated.

Wee, 25, who goes by the nickname "namewee", said he received the notice on Monday.

He said the school board misunderstood him as he did not specify the weakness of command of English among students in any particular school.

"I disagree that the video clips are aimed at hurting any particular school. My intention is to express myself."

Wee said he would review the video clips, adding that he could not possibly take back those in the possession of others.

When he returned home from Taiwan in August, Wee was summoned to the Federal police headquarters on Aug l9 over a rap song in Mandarin that allegedly carried anti-government messages.
