IPOH, MALAYSIA - A night out for two best friends to celebrate the end of their SPM examinations turned into tragedy when one of them died in an accident here.

The 17-year-old girls had been travelling by motorcycle from here to Batu Gajah when they collided with a lorry at a Simpang Pulai junction here on Thursday.

Ipoh Traffic Chief Deputy Supt Mohd Rodzi Rajab said Rodziah Mohd Khairi died on the spot, while her schoolmate Sharifah Zulaiha Syed Mizuri suffered injuries. She is warded at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

Police have taken a statement from the lorry driver, who is in his 30s.
