President's award for teachers 2009

Know of an outstanding teacher who deserves to be recognised? Nominate him or her for the President's Award for Teachers this year.

Members of the public are invited to nominate outstanding teachers for the President's Award for Teachers 2009, the nation's highest accolade in the teaching fraternity, starting 2 Feb. The award will be conferred by the President at the Istana on Teachers' Day on 1 Sep.

The award was introduced to recognise excellent teachers for their dedication and hard work in developing our young. The panel will be looking out for teachers who are dedicated to the welfare, character and moral development of students and who are also role models of continuous learning.

To date, 37 teachers have received the award.

Nomination forms are available at all primary and secondary schools, junior colleges, centralised institute, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and at the Teachers' Network.

Forms can also be downloaded from MOE's website (www.moe.gov.sg).

The closing date for nominations is 27 Feb.
