KLANG, MALAYSIA: The state education department says the alleged molest of two Form Two girls in a school here was but a case of teasing gone too far.
However, it has ordered the school's disciplinary board to hold a meeting to decide on the appropriate punishment for the boys involved.
State education director Dr Zahri Aziz said the board would meet next week.
On Monday, it was reported that 10 Form Two schoolboys allegedly molested two girls of the same age in a classroom when walking to the assembly hall.
The boys are said to have cornered the girls and forced them into a classroom and closed the doors.
While some stood guard, the rest were said to have molested the girls and to have asked them to remove their uniforms.
Both girls refused and were let off some 20 minutes later.
Zahri, however, yesterday denied that the girls were trapped in a classroom or asked to remove their clothes.
"I was informed that the girls were somewhat cornered and that the two boys accidentally hugged the girls while trying to prevent them from escaping.
"And there were only two main culprits, not 10 as reported. The rest were bystanders," he said.
Zahri said the department was very concerned about cases of girls being taken advantage of.
