Checking out MDIS pulse first hand

CLOSE to 1,300 people showed up at the Management Development Institute of Singapore's (MDIS) open house.

The institute, one of the biggest private schools in Singapore, held its annual event on Feb 21 at the Stirling Road campus. Like other open houses held by tertiary institutions, the idea was to introduce potential students to the courses and to create awareness of the MDIS' Unicampus along with the facilities and its community outreach programme.

MDIS' most popular courses are business management, travel and tourism, mass communications and life sciences.

Students and parents were taken on a tour of the Stirling Road campus and shown the broadcast studios where current students role-played reporters and cameramen. They were also shown the life sciences laboratory where they saw cell samples under a microscope and had their pulse taken. The MDIS spokesman said the school saw a larger crowd this time compared to last year's open house. -tabla!

To ramp up the atmosphere, MDIS held street soccer and street dance competitions for the visitors.
