A BIKER'S helmet that emits light on its back and a poncho that can be packed inside a cap have won the students awards in a science challenge.

HWA Chong Institution (HCI) snagged the Award for Overall Concept, and Nanyang Girls' High School the Best Manufacturability Award in the Science Challenge and Congress 2009.

The challenge, which involved presenting prototypes that draw inspiration from the upcoming inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG), took place at the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech).
