Don't leave it to others

MR TAN HAU TECK: 'Like it or not, laws, customs and beliefs are all determined by the majority in a community. Rather than spend time attempting to change mainstream education, parents should play a bigger role in their children's upbringing.

If you want your child to know that pre-marital sex is wrong, then be sure to tell him. Don't shift the blame to the school or insist that it take more responsibility of your child.

Instead, take a more active role in your child's education so that you can be the one to imbue what you feel are the right values.'
