IN AN effort to expand opportunities for Singapore's youth, eight more schools are taking part in the direct school admission exercise for secondary schools this year, bringing the total to 74.

This exercise differs from the regular Secondary 1 posting exercise by allowing students to highlight co-curricular talents in a wider range of areas - from dance to robotics and niche sports.

It also gives schools greater flexibility in selecting students, as the latter are judged on both their academic and non-academic talents.
