NON-PROFIT childcare operators can apply for a new recurrent government grant from July as part of efforts to raise the quality of childcare services and make them affordable.

Announcing the grant, which will reach around $30 million per year in five years' time, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) on Friday said it is to "enhance the quality, accessibility and affordability of centre-based childcare, so as to better support working parents.

"It is part of the Ministry's investment in the future of our children," said a statement from MCYS, which added that these efforts are part of the enhanced 2008 Marriage and Parenthood Package announced in August last year.
