TAOYUAN, Taiwan -- A male junior-high school student accused his female teacher of sexually assaulting him, causing him to suffer from long-term mental complications.

Taoyuan County councilor Yang Chao-wei held a press conference to address the issue yesterday afternoon, saying that the boy's parents came to him seeking help.

The alleged assault occurred two years ago. The boy told his parents, who reported the incident to the school.

However, the teacher threatened to commit suicide if the incident was publicised, and so the parents kept silent for two years, Yang said.

However, the boy continues to suffer from mental stress two years after the incident, and so the parents decided to seek his help, Yang said.

Director of Taoyuan's Education Department Chang Ming-wen said that even though this alleged incident occurred two years ago, the department would aggressively investigate the case.
