S'porean student at private school yet to receive TransitLink concession card

MY SON attends a foreign-run private school. Since he has turned 13, he should not hold a primary school concession card. I recently applied to have his card replaced, hoping to get it before the school year is over in the first week of this month. Several weeks passed without any news.

Frustrated that he still had not received his replacement card, I called TransitLink. After numerous attempts, not to mention being put on hold, I finally got through to a helpful woman. The bad news was that my son would not be issued his replacement card until just before the start of the new school year in August. In the meantime, he has to pay the adult fare whenever he takes public transport.

Why does TransitLink treat Singaporeans differently just because they do not attend mainstream local schools?
