I REFER to the article '10-Year Series back - but do we still need them?' (The New Paper, 2 Jun).
I feel that the 10-Year Series assessment books provide important and up-to-date study materials that should remain available.
However, students should not rely entirely on them to achieve good grades as we should never forget what teachers can offer.
These assessment books are meant for students to practise and to gauge what kind of questions might appear.
Students still need their teachers to provide a detailed narration on the concepts and techniques of handling difficult questions.
However, some students may not be able to afford to buy the 10-Year Series. I suggest that schools get a discount rate from publishing firms so that students with financial problems can also get a copy.
While I was preparing for my O-level examinations, I relied a lot on the 10-Year Series. The more I practised, the more confident I felt.
I feel students should strike a balance between getting information from teachers and the 10-Year Series.
In this way, they will be able to cover their subjects comprehensively and know how questions are phrased and designed.
