PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA - School bells, school meals and homework are some of the things that students of SRK Assunta 2 will miss this week.

Staying at home with the forced school closure because of the influenza A (H1N1) may seem like fun for some. But it's a cause for concern for 12-year-old Iylia Shahlini Mohd Shahlan.

She is worried she will fall behind in her studies.

She is giving Mathematics and Science a priority but has also been catching up on other subjects.

Iylia also has tuition for English, Malay, Science and Mathemathics where a teacher comes to her home on the weekends.

'The teachers didn't really specify on what we have to focus on but it was clear they want us to keep on studying,' said Iylia when met at her home here.

'I try to keep up with maths and science the most,' she added.

Iylia said being made to stay home could be a good opportunity for her to be more independent and disciplined at studying by herself.

Apart from that, being away from school for a whole week has not been fun.

'It gets boring sometimes and it is not like being in school where I can play with my friends and do other things,' she said.

She is of course grateful for the Internet.

'I go on Yahoo messenger and chat with my friends. I also surf the Net a lot,' she added.
