Priority for those who need to access library reference materials

PLEASE refer to Monday's letter by Ms Yvonne Ang, 'Non-users taking up all space at library reference section'.

We thank Ms Ang for her comment that Woodlands Regional Library has a good reference section with an environment conducive to research.

Within the reference section of the regional libraries, about 20 per cent of the tables are set aside for library users who need to consult library materials. The remaining seats are for anyone to use.

However, priority will be given to users who have to access and use library materials. The National Library Board reserves the right to request users not consulting library materials to give up their seat to other users who do use library materials. Anyone encountering a similar experience as Ms Ang can ask our staff at the counter for assistance.

The library is a public space catering to all types of users. Library users should hence be considerate to one another and together help ensure a pleasant reading environment for all.
