Ninety-five per cent of Management & Science University (MSU) students obtained jobs in various fields within six months after they graduated last year, according to the latest survey by the university.

According to MSU president Prof Datuk Wira Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the survey shows that efforts by the university to inculcate five key components -- entrepreneurship, moral values and ethics, information technology, language and soft skills -- in its curriculum have been successful.

"The assimilation of entrepreneurship, as well as values and ethics, plays an important role in moulding quality graduates. Similarly is MSU's dedication in emphasising soft skills as an early preparation for students entering the job market."

MSU has been conducting annual surveys on its graduates since its first convocation in order to to identify their marketability levels.

Shukri said it is this foresight, along with study programmes that are relevant to current needs, that makes MSU the current university of choice.

In addition, input from industry experts and collaborative efforts with universities around the world have helped in raising the quality of education at MSU.

"The excellence of an institution cannot be based on its sophisticated infrastructure alone. The software or contents that can fulfil current needs and demands is the main reason why a university is favoured by students."

He said it is, therefore, not surprising to see that many MSU graduates were offered full-time jobs by well-known companies while still undergoing industrial training.

Shukri said this achievement by MSU has given private institutions of higher learning a new lease of life as they play a vital role in helping the government to develop a much-needed human capital for the future.

"This clearly shows that the private education sector is no longer playing a secondary role. It is now on a par with the public institutions of higher learning."

MSU offers pre-university, diploma, bachelor's degree and postgraduate degree programmes in various fields of study. Its faculties and education centres are: Faculty of Health & Life Sciences, Faculty of Business Management & Professional Studies, Faculty of Information Sciences & Engineering, International Medical School, School of Pharmacy, Centre of Foundation Studies, Continuing & Extended Education Centre and Graduate Management Centre.
