NTU says...

THE Super Networking Day was originally meant only for top students.

"It was originally organised for companies with very stringent hiring criteria to meet and recruit our top students from all disciplines", an NTU spokesman said. "In previous years, only selected students who met those companies' specified requirements could attend."

The spokesman said, however, that the university's Career and Attachment Office decided to add a new session this year, to give more students the opportunity to network with and learn about prospective employers, and to give participating companies access to a wider pool of talent.

About 470 students attended the networking session open to all of them, while some 600 attended the earlier session for top students.

Said the spokesman: "Both employers and students gave positive feedback on this new initiative. Some students have already been shortlisted for further assessment."

The spokesman added that NTU organises a variety of career events each year, including networking events, career fairs, recruitment talks, and campus interviews.

"These events aim to expose our graduating students to multiple career opportunities, regardless of their academic performance," the spokesman said.
