Previous educational tours under the programme were to Jogjakarta, Bali, Bandung, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The programme is among the main activities lined up by MSU aimed at developing the soft skills of the students involved.

The trip to Hong Kong from Oct 11 to 14 was more cultural in nature. The students were involved in a number of cultural activities that project the social responsibility of MSU as a caring institution of higher learning.

Fourteen students of Hospitality and Tourism programme, the Department of Hospitality and Tourism in the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies participated in the trip.

They showcased a sample of Malaysian culture by performing traditional Negri Sembilan music of caklempong as well as the zapin dance to appreciative audiences at Disneyland and the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

This was the first time that a university group from Malaysia held a performance at Disneyland.

The show wowed the crowd and received encouraging response from visitors to the theme park.

Group leader Nur Ayuni Mazlan, 23, described their two months of practising caklempong and zapin as worth the while as members had performed well at both Disneyland and HKIed.

"We are proud to have contributed to creating greater awareness of Malaysia through our cultural activities," she said.

"Moreover, our group comprised students from various races including Malay, Chinese, Indian and those from Sabah and Sarawak in line with the 1Malaysia concept."

Meanwhile, the International Student Exchange Programme Unit of MSU is giving the option to students to choose to further their studies abroad.

In this context, there are more than 40 universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, eastern Europe, Japan, India and Indonesia with ties with MSU.

Besides the Hospitality and Tourism programme of the FBMP, MSU also offers degree and diploma programmes in various specialised fields such as International Business, Decision Science, Accountancy, Industrial Management, Investment Management, Education (Hons) -- (TESL), Law and Commerce, Event Management, Human Capital Management, Retail Management, Early Childhood Education, Finance Outdoor, Leisure & Adventure Management, Management (Public Relations and Entertainment) and Culinary Arts that are relevant to current needs.
