NUR IZZATI AZAHAR scored 5As in the UPSR but she was not allowed to collect her result slip because she had not settled her school fees amounting to RM57(S$23), reported Utusan Malay- sia.

The pupil from SK Tarcisian Convent in Ipoh, who was in tears, was quoted as saying that although she could not hold her result slip, she was happy to prove that poverty was not a barrier to academic success.

Her mother Fatimah Ahmad, 42, said her family was facing financial problems - she is a factory worker while her husband Azahar Ariffin, 41, is a lorry driver.

Nur Izzati aspires to be a doctor.
