IT WAS a nail-biting day for Secondary Five, Lower and Upper Six students yesterday as the results of the Brunei Cambridge GCE 'A' Level, 'AS' Level and 'O' Level examinations were released by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
The statistics showed that out of 3,073 students who sat for the 'A' levels, a total of 2,462 students managed to obtain at least one 'A' level, marking a 0.49 per cent increase compared to the 'A' level results in 2008.
Meanwhile, a total of 68 students obtained at least four 'A' levels and out of this number, 13 showed outstanding achievement by acquiring Grade 'A' in at least four subjects in the exam.
Compared to the 2008 results, 10 subjects saw an increase in achievements that ranged from 2.46 to 25 per cent. These subjects include Malay Language, Art and Design, Economics, History, Hafaz Al-Quran, Computing, Thinking Skills, Psychology, Business Studies and Sociology.

Meanwhile, in comparison to the 2008 statistics, the 'O' level results saw an increase of 0.42 per cent of students who successfully obtained three 'O' levels.
In addition to that, a total of 898 students managed to achieve between eight and 12 'O' levels. Three schools managed to gain 100 per cent in students obtaining at least three 'O' levels, while 23 schools consisting of 17 government schools and six private schools showed an increase of between 0.66 per cent and 26.32 per cent compared to last year's results.
Meanwhile, 252 candidates successfully achieved Grade 'A' in five to 10 subjects, which marks yet another increase by 0.25 per cent from 2008.
A total of 41 candidates showed outstanding achievements by obtaining aggregate six and grade one in six to nine subjects.
Students are advised to collect their examination slips from their respective schools whereas private candidates are to collect theirs from the Examinations Department at MoE.
