Time adults stood up to rude teens
Wed, Mar 03, 2010
my paper

I REFER to the letter by Ms Janet Lim, "Rude youngsters show no respect for others" (my paper, March 2).

I could not agree more.

I am a 27-year-old mature student at ITE College Central (Bishan Campus).

There are some teens who keep taunting me, calling me "little boy" in Mandarin.

As an adult, it offends me that a younger generation is showing such disrespect.

A student had even taunted me at the top of her voice in a library.

We adults have been so preoccupied with our problems that we are losing our grip on society. This has allowed teens to run riot.

It is time we stood up and took some firm action to regain control of the situation.
