The China Press reported that a Taiwanese kindergarten teacher in Taichung begged for forgiveness by kneeling and slapping herself.

According to the daily, the teacher had beaten a pupil for not being able to answer a Maths question.

Unhappy with her punishment, the pupil's parents decided to sue the teacher, who was once nominated as a model teacher.

The daily said the teacher then went to see the pupil's parents in a bid to retract the suit, and knelt and started slapping herself.

Despite that, the pupil's parents decided to continue with the suit.

Neighbours claimed that the teacher had a reputation of being 'fierce' and heard her scream at her charges.
