ISLAMABAD - PAKISTAN parliamentary elections scheduled for Jan 8 will be held in February, a senior election commission official said on Tuesday.

'Elections will not be delayed beyond February. We expect it to be towards the later part of next month,' the official said.

The commission was to make a public announcement later in the day.

'We want the delay to be minimal. But the election commission needs a realistic amount of time to get things back on track,' he said, referring to the turmoil that has gripped the country after Benazir Bhutto's assassination. -- AFP
