HK shares close sharply higher

>HONG KONG, - Hong Kong share prices closed sharply higher Friday, up 6.7 percent, as investors chased bargains in a market battered recently by US recession fears, dealers said.

The Hang Seng index closed up 1,583.10 points at 25,122.37, going above 25,000 points for the first time this week.--AFP
