LOS ANGELES - FRENCH basketball star Tony Parker is suing a paparazzi photo agency over a report he had an affair with a model, a celebrity news website reported Wednesday.

Lawyers for Parker, who married Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria in a lavish Paris wedding earlier this year, filed the suit against X17 photo agency in Los Angeles Superior Court, TMZ.com reported.

The suit alleges X17 defamed Parker by publishing the allegations when the company 'had to know that the story was false, or at the very least, it had to have entertained serious doubts about the credibility of its supposed source'.

The allegations against San Antonio Spurs star Parker involved model Alexandra Paressant. The suit states: 'Tony Parker has never had sexual relations with a woman named Alexandra Paressant.'

Parker said in a statement released by his lawyers earlier this week he had 'never laid eyes' on the woman.

Both Parker, 25 and Longoria 32 issued denials of an affair to People magazine. 'I love my wife. She's the best thing in my life, and I have never been happier,' Parker said.

Longoria added: 'Tony has been nothing short of the perfect husband.'
