IT IS a reality television show but you won't see it on any television channel.
Instead, Malaysian Dreamgirl - an English-language reality show based on the US series America's Next Top Model (ANTM)- will be screened on the Internet.
According to The New Straits Times, the show will be broadcast via a dedicated website, www.malaysiandreamgirl.tv.
Mr Jerad Solomon, CEO of Capxion Media, the company producing the series, told The New Paper that the online series will be similar in format with a regular television show.
But since it is screened online, it won't be subject to Malaysia's censorship laws, which do not allow kissing on free-to-air television.
There is also a strict dress code for presenters and actors, who can't wear revealing outfits.
Mr Solomon, 33, an accounting graduate from Nanyang Technological University, said: 'We are in a grey area where Internet programming is concerned. We will have to be self-regulating.'
He explained while they will push the envelope when they can, Capxion will err on the side of caution - which means there will be no swimsuit episodes.
Mr Solomon said: 'We have to keep in mind that we will also have Muslim girls on the show.
'We don't want the religious authorities to clamp down on us.'
The participants will be allowed to wear tank tops and short skirts if they want. But if they use bad language during the show, it will be bleeped out, he added.
Actress Sazzy Falak, 27, who starred in the popular hit TV series Gol And Gincu (Lipsticks and Goalposts) will host the show.
Sazzy, who also hosts several variety shows on cable television, told The New Paper that she believes the rules for the online reality show will be less strict.
'I think there will be some concern by the participants and the viewers (about what is permissible) but I believe the producers aren't thinking of how far they can push the envelope', she said.
The idea of an online television show has attracted some well-known sponsors such as Nissan Latio, AmBank, Wella and Escada, according to the Capxion website.
Mr Solomon said he's in discussion with other sponsors.
Malaysian Dreamgirl will give 12 girls a chance to experience a model's life, and auditions will take place next week in Kuala Lumpur.
Like ANTM, the participants will live together in a large house, go for photo shoots and attend makeup, styling, catwalk and fashion workshops.
They will also learn hosting, presentation and acting.
The winner will be selected by a panel of judges including Malaysian model Elaine Daly, blogger Kenny Sia and fashion stylist Lim Jimmy.
There will be 20 episodes, with two screened every week.
The eliminations will be decided via public SMS votes and the winner stands to win RM100,000 ($43,850) worth of prizes. The company will also take a cut of the SMS votes, which is tentatively priced at RM1 per vote.
The site itself is free and viewers don't have to sign up to watch the series.
Singaporeans can watch the 30-minute episodes online, but won't be able to vote.
Capxion was set up less than a year ago and Malaysian Dreamgirl is its first programme.
Mr Solomon said that the idea for the show was simply 'combining what's popular in entertainment today - reality TV and Internet video'.
He added: 'With the popularity of YouTube, we think people spend more time on their PCs than on television.'
