Dancing Bush can stay on the beat: Rice

WASHINGTON - US President George W. Bush's top diplomat touted the leader's dance moves on Friday, after he made an impression with some hip-grinding during a trip to Africa.

'I just want to report that the president did a fair amount of dancing when he was in Africa, and demonstrated that he can stay on the beat,' said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

'You look sceptical, but I was there. I can certify,' she told reporters after President Bush returned from a tour of Benin, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ghana and Liberia.

Television footage from the trip showed the president - whose dancing skills have been portrayed by some observers as limited - bopping away to music alongside Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. -- AFP
