AS TRADITIONAL arts groups try to stay relevant in a competitive arts landscape, they have to market themselves more aggressively.
So the National Arts Council (NAC) is organising a free Mandarin seminar this Saturday to give practical tips on how to attract more audiences, press coverage and sponsors.
So far, more than 90 administrators, managers and artistic directors of Chinese traditional arts groups have signed up.
Industry professionals speaking at the event include Mr Terence Ho, general manager of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, and Kok Heng Leun, artistic director of Drama Box.
This event is part of a series of initiatives by the NAC to give a leg-up to Chinese and Malay traditional arts, a scene growing in vibrancy over the past few years.
The programmes, which include dance workshops by experts, talks on how to market the arts and residencies with overseas art groups, started in May.
