Half-price tickets, anyone?

ARTS GOERS here can look forward to paying less for shows. This is because Keppel Corporation has donated $250,000 to the National Arts Council (NAC) to subsidise half the cost of the second- and third-lowest categories of ticket prices for 40 shows.

For example, tickets for Puccini's Turandot by the Singapore Lyric Opera cost $25, $38, $48, $58, $68, $88, $110 and $130. But the $38 and $48 ticket prices will be halved.

Sistic fees - $1 for tickets priced below $20 and $3 for tickets priced above - still apply.

Upcoming productions that will enjoy such discounts include Turandot in September and a performance by the Vienna Boys Choir during the Singapore Sun Festival in October.

Some 12,000 discounted tickets will be sold during the year-long programme. Called Keppel Nights, it is the first ticket subsidy programme here. It was announced yesterday during a press conference by NAC and Keppel, an offshore and marine, property and infrastructure conglomerate.
