LOS ANGELES, US - PROSECUTORS will drop charges against 'W.' stars Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright over an altercation last year at a bar in the Louisiana city of Shreveport, the actors' attorney said on Tuesday.
City prosecutors agreed at a court hearing on Tuesday to drop the charges within 60 days, provided Brolin and Wright pay US$130 (S$191) each in court costs, their attorney Blair Berk said.
Brolin, the son of actor James Brolin, and Wright were charged with interference with police officers in the wake of a disturbance at a Shreveport bar in July 2007.
The actors were with crew members from the Oliver Stone movie 'W.' about President George W. Bush. Police arrived after one crew member caused a fracas and was asked to leave.
Police pepper-sprayed both Brolin and Wright, while Wright was also hit with an electric shock from a Taser weapon, Berk said.
Prosecutors were not immediately available to comment.
Five 'W.' crew members were also accused of interfering with police officers and charges against them will also be dropped, Berk said. All were charged with misdemeanors, instead of more serious felony charges, and did not appear at court.
Brolin, who stars in the current film 'Milk,' played Bush in 'W.' Wright played US statesman Colin Powell in 'W.' and portrayed a CIA agent in recent James Bond movies 'Quantum of Solace' and 'Casino Royale'. -- REUTERS
