ASTRO BOY (PG)
Animation/95 minutes

Ratings: 3

AGAINST Hollywood wizardry or whimsical Japanese productions, this computer animated update of Osamu Tezuka's manga and anime series by Hong Kong's Imagi studios breaks no new ground. But the titular robot, voiced by Freddie Highmore, thankfully doesn't come across as tacky.

While fight sequences pack sufficient firepower, the hero needs more baddies to spar with.
