STEVE APPLETON
When The Sun Comes Up (Sony)

Ratings: 2.5

IT'S hard to place a finger on 19-year-old British singer-songwriter Steve Appleton's brand of music, which combines rock, pop, reggae, funk and even dub.

The result is surprisingly listenable and akin to the works of artistes like British singer Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly. One gripe: Tracks such as Dirty Funk sound a tad over-produced.
