Ms Chong, also known as Grace Quek, was a former Raffles Girls' School and Hwa Chong Junior College student who became a porn star.
Singapore-born Tequila has posed for men's magazines like Penthouse, Maxim and Stuff, and is a host of television show Fuse TV, which features striptease performances.
They are now living in the US.
Ms Tan said the father of her children was a customer she had met at her first strip club.
"We still talk about how cheap he was back then, tipping me just a dollar," she said.
The couple are no longer together, but remain good friends. She said she doesn't hide what she does from her children.
"They know what I do and they have seen the photos, media, magazines and billboards.
"They are not judgemental. They are proud and happy, and that makes me happy. They know mummy is not just a porn model, she is more than that," she said, adding that her father is fine with what she's doing as well.
Ms Tan said her employer also has no problems with her other career as she keeps both jobs separate.
"Employers here look at your qualifications and experience for the job, and as long as it doesn't affect their business. And what I do is perfectly legal," she added.
As for the risks associated with the porn industry, such as contracting sexually transmitted diseases, she said she is not worried because it is against the law to have commercial sex without protection.
Ms Tan, who usually visits Singapore once a year to see her mother and to update her wardrobe, said that high on the agenda of things to do during her upcoming trip is "eat my favourite food - Hainanese chicken rice".
