WILL Hong Kong Heavenly King Leon Lai be a daddy this year or won't he?

The question is making the rounds on the Chinese showbiz grapevine.

Last November, the 45-year-old actor told the Hong Kong media that he would practise the Chinese custom of not announcing a pregnancy that is still in its first trimester.

Was that a hint that his wife of three years, Chinese model Gaile Lok, 31, is pregnant?

The media seems to think so.

Hong Kong tabloid Sudden Weekly claimed last week that Lok looks a little rounder as she is two months pregnant and that she is relaxing in San Francisco.

The magazine showed photos of her shopping in the US city, and reported that Lai has bought a house there for her for about HK$40 million (S$6.6million).

But if other Hong Kong reports are to be believed, Lok had a miscarriage last month and the couple were devastated.

When contacted by the media for confirmation, Lai and Lok's managers declined to comment.

Fans will just have to wait until the couple talk or keep a watch on Lok's belly.
