
SINGAPORE - There were 259 National Service (NS) defaulters last year. Of these, 181 are Singaporean citizens and 78 are permanent residents.
Minister of Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen produced the breakdown of NS defaulters from 2006 to 2011, in a written parliamentary reply to a query from Mr Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap, MP for Aljunied GRC.
NS defaulters refers to those who failed to register or enlist for NS, or failed to return after their exit permits expired.
