IF LI Jiawei wants to better her women's singles fourth-place finish of the last Olympics, she would need to slay some demons in Beijing.

Standing between her and a semi-final berth this year is Kim Kyung Ah, the South Korean paddler who unsettled and defeated Li with her methodical chopping style four years ago in the bronze-medal play-off.

Kim's 4-1 victory left Li in tears.
